PupCrate Subscription Box April 2016

What Is PupCrate?

PupCrate is a monthly subscription box for dogs.

Their treats are from the USA and their toys come from all over the world. They will send you 4-5 items in each box.

They have three size categories of dogs to choose from. Something that I like about their subscription box is you can choose what types of toys you want in your boxes. The categories are Plush Toys, Chew Toys, or Mix.

They have a month to month option, 3 month option, or 12 month subscription option.

The Subscription

The Details of THIS Box

**THIS BOX WAS PROVIDED TO ME FOR REVIEW**

I believe this is the Large size box, with the mix toy option.

What's In the Box?

Here is what the box looks like when it is delivered to you. I love the paw prints on the side!

And here is what the box looks like on the inside!

They include a card explaining each toy which I always love. Shows that they take the time to make their boxes and don't just throw random things together.

Treats

Yippy All Natural Peanut Butter and Jelly Biscuits (6 oz) - $8

These treats are wheat, corn, and soy free so dogs with those allergies will be able to eat these! I love it when treats in subscription boxes are allergy friendly because it shows the subscription company is aware of the health concerns of pups that may be subscribed to their box. My dogs go CRAZY for peanut butter so the fact these are Peanut Butter Jelly flavored AND it looks like our peanut butter jar guarantees that this will be a total hit.

No Grainers Training Size Soft Chews Hickory Bacon Flavor (5 oz) - $4.99

I love the name of these treats! So creative. These treats are made in the USA which is a plus, and they are grain free! This is another allergy friendly treat for pups. I am still working on training my puppy so these smaller treats will be perfect. I love that I got large treats and small treats in this box! My dogs are NOT picky when it comes to treats so these will be gone very quickly.

Etta Says! Savory Yumm Stick - $3

And what dog doesn't love jerky sticks? My dogs got one of these in their March BarkBox and they LOVED it. My large dog basically swallowed his half whole. I'm not even sure he had time to taste it! And my puppy searched for another 5 minutes trying to find more. So I am really happy w got another one of these!

Toys

Kong CuteSeas Medium - $5.99

I knew from the start they would love this one because it squeaks! My dogs can't control themselves with squeaky toys. This is also Kong brand so I HOPE it lasts a little longer than other plush toys. They like destroying them though so it's ok if they do. That's just how they play with their toys.

And here are Moseley and Darwin playing with it!

Mammoth FlossyChew Medium - $3.99

This toy doesn't have a squeaker in it so it wasn't a hit right off the bat, but later tonight Darwin will be playing with it. Moseley LOVES to chew so he found interest in this toy sooner than Darwin did. All of our rope toys last a while but have started falling apart so I am glad to see we have a new one!

And here is Moseley playing with the rope toy. He likes it when we hold his toys for him while he chews.

Earth Rated Dog Waste Bag - $0.87

We are always in need of dog waste bags so this was a good thing to receive! I also like that they went with the Earth Rated brand. There are 15 bags per roll so that will last us about 15 walks! Darwin doesn't like to go potty while we are on walks...I have no idea why.

Final Thoughts

Ok it's time to calculate the value of the box!

  • Yippy All Natural Peanut Butter and Jelly Biscuits - $8
  • No Grainers Training Size Soft Chews Hickory Bacon Flavor - $4.99
  • Etta Says! Savory Yumm Stick - $3
  • Kong CuteSeas Medium - $5.99
  • Mammoth FlossyChew Medium - $3.99
  • Earth Rated Dog Waste Bag - $0.87

The total value of the box came to $26.84

That's a few dollars under the price per box on the monthly plan, and less than a dollar under the cost per box on the yearly plan. Buyers like to be getting more than they paid for the box, but it's a little difficult to do with the dog boxes. I am pleased with the quality of the toys though and Darwin is STILL running around the house with his whale as I am typing this. We got a lot of high quality treats and my puppies are happy so I think this box was worth it.

It would be nice to see the box have a higher value in the future though.

Walmart Beaty Box Classic Spring 2016 Review

What is Walmart Beauty Box?

Walmart Beauty Box is seasonal box that you can subscribe to that sends makeup samples, bath and body care samples, and hair care samples. They can be full sized, deluxe sized, and sometimes the dreaded foil packets.

They now have a Classic Box and a Trendsetter Box and you can subscribe to both with the same email account.

Details of THIS Box

This Walmart box is the Spring 2016 box and is the Classic Box.

The Box

Here is what it looks like when it arrives on your doorstep. I thought this beauty box would arrive in the Sunflower box as well like the other Spring box for this year, but this one came in a more plain one. I don't know why.

And here it is opened!

I love when tissue paper is covering the items in the box.

The Products

Colgate Optic White Platinum High Impact White Tooth Paste (3.0 oz FULL SIZE!) - $3.99

I just love receiving teeth whitening samples for free because my teeth are naturally yellow, so I am always on the lookout for new things to try. This one I haven't tried yet and am very excited to! Says I should notice a difference in three days so we will see if that's the case. And this is a full size sample! unlike the Winter box where I got foil packet whitening toothpaste. Love this!!

Dove Advanced Care Skin Renew Deoderant (0.5 oz) - $0.94

I was actually surprised to see a deodorant sample in this box. I have never used Dove's brand of deodorant before but I have used their soap and loved them. I don't doubt this deodorant will be high quality. I most likely won't use it though because I am not a huge fan of the smell.

Dove Dry Oil Moisture Nourishing Body Wash Nutrium Moisture (1.8 fl oz) - $0.45

This is a body wash so it is supposed to be used differently than the Jergens moisturizer. I can't wait to see how this one feels after! I expect to feel moisturized and smooth after my shower. Finger's crossed this works! Target claims it is their #1 Dermatologist Recommended body wash so I have high hopes.

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Subtle Lightening Shampoo (2 fl oz) - $2.16

The back of the product says it is safe for use on natural or color treated hair, so that's a plus. I am always wary of shampoo products because my hair and skin doesn't react well to a lot of them. I also am unsure what it means to make your hair "visibly brighter"? So I don't know if I will use this product. I might have to do more research just to make sure I am not coloring my hair on accident.

I just skimmed over some reviews and it appears that it DOES make your hair visibly lighter, so be warned! I most likely won't be using this since I am happy with my hair :)

St. Ives Apricot Scrub Fresh Skin (1 oz) - $0.64

You all know by now that I just love facial scrubs, and when I saw the apricot I got really excited because I just love eating them. This product has a very pleasant smell (thank goodness!) and it appears to have little orange balls in the lotion to help with exfoliation, and I always love that. Makes me feel like it might actually work. I will for sure be using this! Might even have to go buy the full size product!

Burt's Bees BB Cream with Noni Extract (.03 oz) - $0.26

So honestly I had no idea what BB Cream was so I had to do some reading. My sample color is Light/Med so it will be too dark for me. So it looks like it's supposed to reduce wrinkles, smooth your skin, and act as a sunscreen. Very interesting. It is only SPF 15 though so I wouldn't use it as a replacement for sunscreen when you're outside all day.

Final Thoughts

First let's calculate the total value of this box.
  • Colgate Optic White Platinum Tooth Paste - $3.99
  • Dove Advanced Care Skin Renew Deodorant - $0.94
  • Dove Dry Oil Moisture Nourishing Body Wash - $0.45
  • John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Subtle Lightening Shampoo - $2.16
  • St. Ives Apricot Scrub Fresh Skin - $0.64
  • Burt's Bees BB Cream with Noni Extract - $0.26
Total Value = $8.44

For a $5 box, I'll say that's a pretty good value! There was only one full sized sample in this box. It also had a lower value than the Trendsetter box and one less item than the Trendsetter. I am curious to see if that trend continues in future boxes. I am pleased with these products though and will definitely be using some of them!

Beauty Fix Subscription April 2016

What Is The Beauty Fix Box?

This is a monthly subscription box that you can buy each month without a subscription at a high price or get sent monthly. They provide makeup, skin, and hair care products. They send you 6 or more products that are mostly full and deluxe travel sizes. They also claim each box provides more than $100 worth of product.

The Subscription

Box Items: 6+ beauty products

Cost: $24.95/ month or $34.95 for one time purchase

Packaging

Everything arrives in a box.

Inside the first thing you see is a card that explains each item you have received.

And here is the rest of inside of the box :) I LOVE tissue paper in my boxes!

Products

Cotz Face Natural Skin Tone SPF 40 (.35 oz) - $4.66

Once again I have received another sunscreen in a subscription box, but I am pleased that it is above SPF 30. Upon opening it the sunscreen looked VERY dark for being "lightly tinted". However it rubs in REALLY well and definitely holds true to the "lightly tinted" claim. There also doesn't seem to be a smell to it which is quite nice!

Bliss Fabulous Drench N' Quench Cream-to-Water lock-in Moisturizer (.17 oz) - $3.80

I am always a fan of receiving moisturizers because I am always so dry! I am not a HUGE fan of the scent of this one but it's not as strong a few moments and it seemed to work really well! So I am pleased. I just wish the sample was larger!

SmartFx Volume Extended Mascara Black (7.5 ml) - $12?

For pricing this one, it's $5.99 on Amazon and $20.00 on Dermstore so I took an average. I am not a huge fan of mascara so I can't speak on the quality but it is a full size product so I am pleased with that! I will be gifting this to my sister.

AHAVA Dead Sea Crystal Osmoter X6 Facial Serum (.17 oz) - $12.58

To be totally honest I have no idea what a facial serum even is, but it claims to reduce wrinkles. It also claims to "moisturize, heal, and de-stress". I will have to look more into this but I am excited to try something so new to me!

Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat (.17 oz) - $8.50

This "nail polish" is supposed to be applied to the nail to help strengthen it and bring out it's natural healthy pink hue.

Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk Natural Tint (50 ml) - $6.25

My dry shampoo experiences in the past have not been great but this one looks promising. The last stuff I tried wasn't great quality. This seems to be weightless AND moisturizing so I have high hopes!

SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 (??) - $5??

This sample claims to make your skin feel rejuvenated and smooth. It's quite a tiny sample though. I can't see it lasting more than a few uses. I can't find a size amount anywhere so it makes it hard to guess the cost of it.

Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer (2 fl oz) - $45

I was very excited about this! Upon opening it did NOT smell like apples to me whatsoever. IT honestly smells like grass, which isn't my most favorite smell ever.  However it does seem to moisturize well. It's also a full sized sample! Woo hoo!!

Patchology Flashpatch Eye Gels (one pair) - $1.66

I have seen masks before but I haven't seen eye gels before. I am pretty excited to try these. A bummer there is only one pair. But it will still be fun to try.

Final Thoughts

I am curious to see if the total of this box comes out to be since they claim to have $100+ worth of product. So let's do that first.

The totals of the products:

  • Cotz Face Natural Skin Tone SPF 40 - $4.66
  • Bliss Fabulous  Moisturizer - $3.80
  • SmartFx Volume Extended Mascara - $12
  • AHAVA Dead Sea Crystal Osmoter - $12.58
  • Perfect Formula Pink Gel Coat - $8.50
  • Klorane Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk - $6.25
  • SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2 - $5??
  • Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer - $45
  • Patchology Flashpatch Eye Gels - $1.66
The total value of the bag came to $99.45

That is JUST under $100 and it could be because I averaged the value of the mascara and had no idea what the lipid restore was supposed to be. So I won't hold it against them. That is an amazing value for a box that is just under $25.

Target Beauty Box April 2016

What Is The Target Beauty Box?

This box is NOT a subscription. It is a monthly box that is released typically every month and is sold on a first come first serve bases. As it is becoming more well known they are selling out sooner and sooner!

The Subscription

Box Items: A variety of beauty products. Products are released once the box is available for sale so you know what you are purchasing.

Cost: $5-7/month (depends on the box)

Packaging

Everything arrives in a black box.

Inside was this card that contained a coupon for a beauty product purchase from Target over $15.

And here is the rest of inside of the box :) I LOVE tissue paper in my boxes!

Products

Hawaiian Tropic Island Sport Ultra Light SPF 30 (2 fl oz) - $1.99

I love getting sunscreen! I just only wish this one had an SPF higher than 30. Even though it says it has a light tropical scent, the smell is still more on the "sunscreen" side. But it does feel less thick than most sunscreens so that is nice!

Simple Sensitive Skin Experts Cleansing Facial Wipes (7 wipes) - $1.00

It's a bummer there are only 7 wipes, but my skin is quite sensitive so I am excited to try this and see how they work!

Pantene Air Spray Brushable Flexible Hold (1.0 oz) - $0.78

I don't know too much about Pantene, but I am always up for more hairspray. My only worry is it is not strong enough as it is only rated a 2 on the bottle. My hair is not very damaged and doesn't hold curl or anything well, so I always need maximum hold. But it won't hurt to try!

Marlowe Body Butter (1 fl oz) - $1.12

I am excited to try this body butter especially because it smells a little bit like cinnamon! A little bit also goes a long way so i can see this sample lasting for a long time. My hands definitely felt soft after applying it as well.

CeraVe Healing Ointment (.085 oz) - $0.25

This product seems like it was made for me! This ointment is supposed to great for those with very dry skin. I can't wait to try this out. I only wish that the sample was larger. It will last a little bit, bit not nearly as long as I would like.

Cover Girl 372 Divine Wine (3.5 g) - $6.24

This is the first full sized product in this box! Unfortunately this isn't a color I would wear, but word on the street is I can exchange it for a different color at any Target store. But I might have missed the deadline. I just didn't want to OPEN it until I found out if I could exchange it. I am just not a huge purple fan when it comes to makeup.

Laneige Water Bank Soothing Gel Mask (one mask) - $4.80

I have yet to try out a mask so I am really excited for this one! From reading some reviews, it seems like some people are considering this a "full size" product even though most that I found are 5 count or 10 count boxes.

Maybelline Dream Velvet Gel Whipped Foundation Classic Ivory (??) - ??

I am quite curious to see what a "gel whipped foundation" is like. However since it's a foil packet I have to be careful when I open it because I don't know what to do with the extra! With a baby in the house that can easily spell disaster. I do think this color will match my skin tone though so I am very excited about this.

Final Thoughts

I am curious to see what the total comes out to be for this box. So let's do that first.

The totals of the products:
  • Hawaiian Tropic Island Sport SPF 30 - $1.99
  • Simple Sensitive Skin Facial Wipes  - $1.00
  • Pantene Air Spray - $0.78

  • Marlowe Body Butter - $1.12

  • CeraVe Healing Ointment - $0.25
  • Cover Girl 372 Divine Wine - $6.24

  • Laneige Water Bank Soothing Gel Mask - $4.80

  • Maybelline Dream Velvet Gel Whipped Foundation (??) - ??
The total value of the bag came to $16.18

I spent $7 for this Target box so I definitely got more than I paid for. I will be able to use most of these products which makes it even more worth the money. HOWEVER, I hear that this is quite a low value for a Target box, so I am slightly disappointed about that. I will most likely try again in May and see if the value gets better.

All in all though I liked the products and am happy that everyone came out to be worth more than I paid for the box.

What are your thoughts on this Target Box?
